Guest tablet alternative

YourWelcome leases a tablet into the room. chucho starts on the web and the guest's phone.

YourWelcome is an established platform: a proprietary 8″ device running its own operating system, leased for the life of the subscription on a one-year contract, with a fixed tile menu, local business advertising and ticket sales through a partner. chucho begins earlier and lighter — a public page for each property with the booking on your own site, then Chucho Go on the guest's own phone. The same guide goes on a tablet in the property only if you want one.

The short verdict

Pick the one that matches how you host.

Quick read

  • Choose YourWelcome if: you want an established, ad-supported tablet programme — they serve everything from single rentals to large aparthotel portfolios — and you are comfortable with third-party advertising in the guest interface and a one-year contract at $449.99 per property per year.
  • Choose chucho if: you want the property findable before the booking with the booking on your own site, the guide on the phone every guest already carries, nothing advertised that you did not approve, and the tablet as an option: $300 once, or bring your own Android.

Why it matters

Four differences that show up in every stay.

01

The story starts on the open web, not in the room

YourWelcome's product begins when a guest picks up the tablet you have installed. chucho publishes an opt-in page for each property first: bedrooms and beds, what to know, the questions earlier guests asked, selected photos, a general location, and one button that sends the booking to your own site. Never the exact address, door codes, Wi-Fi, your contact details, prices or availability. The same approved facts are served in machine-readable form for assistants answering travel questions.

02

Nothing on the screen that you did not approve

YourWelcome's own pricing page lists local business advertising as an included feature, and its tablet page describes promotional banners and local partner deals. That is the model: the guest interface is partly inventory. In chucho, the only recommendations a guest sees are the ones you put there, and the only services are the partners you switched on. Where a partner takes an order, a share comes back to you — but nobody buys placement in front of your guests.

03

Asking, not hunting through tiles

YourWelcome markets AI that ranks offers and content behind the scenes and helps hosts draft guides; we found no conversational assistant or voice channel, and guests still work through a fixed tile menu. chucho lets the guest ask the question they actually have — typed or spoken, in English or Spanish — and answers from the content you published. Each free property includes 100 text answers and 15 voice minutes a month; paid properties are unmetered.

04

Hardware you own, if you want hardware at all

YourWelcome's 8″ device is leased for the life of the subscription and runs their own operating system; the hardware is theirs and the contract runs a year. chucho's guide lives on the guest's phone by default. If you want it waiting on the counter too, buy a configured tablet for $300 once, or install the kiosk app on an Android tablet you already own with a QR scan. Cancel through the console to end the paid plan immediately: public listings stay active. Of your paid properties, one selected property keeps its free web guide and the other paid properties are deactivated. Scheduled cancellation through the billing portal takes effect at the end of the billing period.

Questions

Questions hosts ask when moving off YourWelcome.

Can I keep the tablets I already have?

If they are open Android devices, yes — install the chucho kiosk app and pair with a QR scan. Locked, vendor-controlled hardware generally cannot be repurposed. A standard 10″ Android tablet works, or order a configured one from us for $300.

How is chucho priced next to YourWelcome?

YourWelcome lists $449.99 per property per year, billed annually on a one-year contract. chucho is free for every property — the public page, Chucho Go, five host picks, 100 text answers and 15 voice minutes a month. Paid properties are $39 a month or $399 a year each, with no setup fee and no contract. The tablet, if you want one, is $300 once rather than a lease.

Will my guests see advertising?

No. The picks, the services and the facts on both the public page and Chucho Go are the ones you approved. Where a delivery or booking partner is connected, the guest sees that partner because you turned it on.

What languages are supported?

English and Spanish, in writing and out loud, switching to whichever the guest uses. The guide's palette also follows the property's real sunset, so an evening question is answered on an evening screen.
