Neighborhood
Nestled in the heart of Co. Limerick, Newcastle West is a picturesque town rich in history and surrounded by serene natural beauty. Known for its vibrant community, charming streets, and heritage landmarks, it offers visitors a true taste of Ireland's countryside charm.
At the center of this enchanting area stands Glenastar Lodge, a former 18th-century hunting lodge built circa 1790 by the Yeilding family. This historic home, originally tied to the Yeilding family's cotton trade in England and India, has transformed over centuries into a luxurious designer estate. While it now boasts modern elegance, Glenastar Lodge retains the heritage and craftsmanship of its original form, blending timeless charm with contemporary sophistication.
The Newcastle West area offers something for everyone—quaint local shops, traditional pubs, scenic walking trails, and a strong connection to Irish heritage. For golf enthusiasts, the region is home to several high-end courses, including the Newcastle West Golf Club, known for its immaculately maintained greens and stunning parkland setting. A short drive will take you to world-class courses like Adare Manor Golf Club, host of the 2027 Ryder Cup, where luxury and championship design meet.
Just a short drive from town, Glenastar Lodge provides a private retreat, allowing guests to enjoy both the tranquility of the countryside and the warmth of the local community. Whether you're exploring the area's history, indulging in outdoor adventures, teeing off on a championship course, or relaxing in the grandeur of Glenastar Lodge, Newcastle West is a destination that promises an unforgettable experience.
