The house

Formerly the summer home of Princess Abigail Kawānanakoa, this renovated estate combines historic mid-century details, coastal interiors and tropical art on a lot of more than 25,000 square feet. Gardens, an oceanfront lawn, multiple lanais and outdoor seating overlook Lanikai Beach and the Mokulua Islands, with direct beach access steps from the backyard.

The main house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, vaulted ceilings, walls of glass, two living areas and an ocean-view dining space. Its updated kitchen includes stainless appliances, a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, rice cooker and ice machine. The detached guest house has a queen bedroom, ensuite full bathroom, private lanai, full kitchen and living area.

The primary bedroom has a California king bed, an ensuite full bathroom with dual vanities, lanai, split air conditioning and ocean views. The second bedroom has a California king bed; bedrooms three and four each have a queen bed. These three guest bedrooms have shared full-bathroom access, lanais, split air conditioning and ocean views. All five sleeping rooms have ceiling fans.

Facilities include high-speed Wi-Fi, multiple smart TVs, washer and dryer, linens, free parking and a garage. Beach towels, chairs and mats are available, and beach equipment rentals are available for an additional charge. Lanikai Beach and the Lanikai Pillbox Trail are within walking reach; Kailua town is a five-minute drive and Waikiki a 30-minute drive.
