The house

Papaya Villa is a furnished, 150 m² Madeiran home more than 100 years old, renovated with retained historic elements, an open-plan design and high ceilings. It accommodates six guests in three bedrooms with closets: one with two single beds and two with one double bed each. The master bedroom has an ensuite, and the other two bedrooms share an adjoining five-piece bathroom. There is also a guest toilet and a pool-house bathroom/change room; the bathroom inventory comprises one bathroom with a bathtub, two with showers and a separate toilet.

The villa has a living area, dining room, fully equipped kitchen and laundry. Kitchen equipment includes a refrigerator, freezer, oven, microwave, dishwasher, dishes and cutlery, coffee machine, toaster and kettle. A washer/dryer, iron, hair dryer and TV are provided. Heating and air conditioning extend throughout the home with independent temperature control.

Outdoor spaces include a terrace, balcony, landscaped grounds, garden furniture, an outdoor dining patio and a barbecue with wet bar. Guests may use fresh herbs from the garden. Views include sunrises, sunsets and Madeira’s New Year fireworks. Privacy coverings surround the property. The private pool can be heated for an additional fee, subject to a minimum five-night booking and at least two days’ advance notice.

Free Wi-Fi and open-air parking within the gated property are provided. A bus stop within walking distance offers a direct service to Funchal. A villa-specific taxi service and paid transfers are available; taxi costs and payment are arranged directly with the provider. A welcome binder contains helpful tips and an app for restaurant recommendations. A baby travel bed is available on request. Bed linen and towels are included; toilet paper and shampoo are supplied only for the first day. Exterior video surveillance covers the swimming pool, car park and barbecue area.
