Where is Mount Elgon Hotel & Spa?
Plot 30, Masaba Road, Mbale, in Eastern Uganda, minutes from the central business district and at the foothills of Mount Elgon.
How do I get to Mbale from Kampala?
Kampala to Mbale is roughly 225 km and about four to five hours by road, depending on traffic and conditions, following the Kampala–Jinja corridor east. Entebbe International Airport is the main international gateway, with onward travel to Mbale normally by road.
What room types are there?
There are 65 rooms, three of them Executive Suites. The two categories are Deluxe Rooms, with king or twin bedding, and Executive Suites, with a separate lounge alongside the bedroom. Both look onto a garden or courtyard and include daily breakfast.
Is there a restaurant, a bar and a spa?
Masaaba Restaurant serves continental, Indian and Asian-inspired, African and Ugandan dishes. The property has two bars, the 1950s Bar and Roots Bar, plus poolside and garden service. Kwetu Spa is open to resident guests and walk-in visitors from Mbale; advance booking is recommended.
Can the hotel host a conference or a wedding?
The hotel has four conference halls—Masaba Conference Hall, Wanale, Manafwa 1 and Manafwa 2—and meeting rooms with theatre, classroom, boardroom and banquet layouts, catering, audio-visual support and event coordination. Hall capacity depends on the event layout. Gardens are used for wedding ceremonies and indoor halls for receptions.
What is there to do from the hotel?
Mount Elgon National Park offers trekking and forest walks; Sipi Falls offers waterfalls, coffee tours and abseiling; and Wanale Ridge is a half-day hike close to town. Further destinations include Nyero Rock Paintings, Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, Tororo Rock and Sisiyi Falls. Most require a guide, transport or park fees arranged separately.
