## About the house

The renovated home sits on five acres beside a five-acre conservation area. Its garden and surrounding jungle contain tropical fruit trees and attract monkeys, toucans, aracaris, parrots, scarlet macaws, coatis and agoutis. A short jungle trail leads to a secluded waterfall and swimming hole.

The main floor has a kitchen with island dining, a living room, laundry room, king master bedroom, half bathroom and a large upper deck with outdoor dining overlooking the pool, ocean and jungle. The master bedroom has sliding walls that open toward the jungle and no curtains; eye masks are recommended for guests sensitive to morning light.

The lower floor contains one king bedroom and one queen bedroom sharing a Jack-and-Jill full bathroom, with direct access to the pool and rancho area. These bedrooms are reached by an outdoor wooden staircase. All three bedrooms have air conditioning. Facilities include Wi-Fi, a washer, microwave, refrigerator, outdoor shower and lawn.

The home is in a gated community with a second gate at the property. A staff member welcomes guests personally at check-in. Pool maintenance requires property access on Tuesdays and Fridays. Occasional power outages, interruptions to the spring-fed water supply and encounters with local wildlife can occur.

The pool is beside the rancho area, with direct access from the lower floor. Surrounding non-slip tiles can still be slippery when wet; appropriate footwear is advised. Maintenance staff require property access on Tuesdays and Fridays.

A 4x4 vehicle is mandatory. The access road is well maintained but steep in places. Playa Matapalo is a seven-minute drive away. The lower-floor bedrooms are accessed by an outdoor wooden staircase that can be slippery when wet; use the handrail. San Jose airport is three hours away by car. Alternatively, a 20-minute flight from SJO to Quepos airport is followed by a 20-minute drive. Occasional power outages and interruptions to the spring-fed water supply can occur.

Allow maintenance staff property access on Tuesdays and Fridays for pool maintenance. Use the handrail on the outdoor wooden staircase and wear appropriate footwear around the pool because surfaces can be slippery when wet. Despite pest control, occasional encounters with insects, lizards, rodents and reptiles are part of the tropical setting and do not constitute a breach of the rental policy. Cleaning fee: $95.
