Apart from perusing the many small independent shops and boutique outlets, you can admire the listed 1930s architecture of the art deco Whitleys building, with its magnificent spiraling staircase. Just to the south of the tube station is the beautiful Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace, home to Prince WIlliam and Kate. The palace is open to the public throughout the year and as a very pleasant cafe attached with wonderful views of the gardens.
